Millendon trainer Sonia Zucchiatti has no regrets for buying American Bullitt for $16,000 at the 2019 APG Perth yearling sale.

Now a six-year-old, American Bullitt maintained his good form when he won the Allwood Stud Website Handicap at Gloucester Park on Friday night and boosted his earnings to $122,219 from ten wins and 26 placings from 93 starts for Zucchiatti, who races the gelding in partnership six stable clients.

Chris Lewis got American Bullitt ($6.80) away smartly from the front line in the stand, and the gelding enjoyed an ideal trip three back on the pegs before he finished with a powerful burst to win by a half-length from the $8.50 chance Lamandier, who finished fast from ninth at the bell. The pacemaker Deeorse ($17) held on for third, with the $2.30 favourite in fourth place after running on from eighth at the bell.

“American Bullitt is an easy horse to train” said Zucchiatti. “He goes around week after week and is always thereabouts and runs a lot of places. He is getting better in the stands and is beginning a lot better.

“I picked him out at the sales. I liked the look of him, and I like his sire Tintin In America.”

American Bullitt is out of Just Visiting, who raced 25 times for two wins (at Bunbury in 2015) and two placings for stakes of $ 10,398. His half-brother is the smart three-year-old Crowd Control, who has earned $53,630 from two wins and six placings.

American Bullitt’s win completed a successful week — after she prepared a treble at Kellerberrin the previous Sunday with Alta Eagle ($2.50), Keegan Banner ($3.60) and Sweetest Thing ($18).
