Friday Night Racing – The Lord Mayor’s Cup
The Lord Mayors Cup was first run at Gloucester Park on the 22nd January 1966. It is a 2130 meter race that was first won by Gendarme who was trained and driven by A S Woodworth. Charles Veryard was the City of Perth Lord Mayor at the time. Charles was a City of Perth Councillor between 1927 and 1964, and then the Lord Mayor of Perth from 1964 until his death in 1967. Today, Basil Zempilas is the 56th Lord Mayor of Perth and has been in office since the 19th of October 2020.
Last year Glenledi Chief took the Lord Mayor Cup title, driven by Garry Hall Jnr and trained by Team Bond.
The big question is who will take the title this year?
Be sure to join us for all the fun on the 16th February at Gloucester Park for the running of the 2024 Lord Mayors Cup!
